With its doughnut-crowned structure near LAX, Randy’s Donuts is an LA landmark, both physically and for the doughnuts in its case. Two years ago, Bon Appétit named it one of the nation’s top spots for doughnuts. Some Chowhounds are willing to drive miles for a taste of Randy’s apple fritters or chocolate old-fashioneds.
But Randy’s isn’t the only player on the scene. Stan’s Donuts in Westwood Village is a strong contender for LA’s best, says wienermobile, who likes the shop’s wacky and delicious Reese’s peanut butter pockets with banana. The Donut Man in Glendora is a favorite with Ogawak; be sure to visit in spring and summer when fresh peach and strawberry doughnuts are rolling out of the fryer. Servorg thinks the buttermilk bars alone make Primo’s Donuts a top pick (Food & Wine magazine is also a fan).
