At Giovanni Rana, the new Italian place in Chelsea Market, the smart order is pasta. The namesake company, after all, is a half-century-old pasta maker from the Veneto whose wares are sold alongside other Italian provisions at this restaurant, bar, and market. Exploring the signature filled pastas, alepenazzi sampled pumpkin ravioli, cappelletti al prosciutto, and ravioli al brasato (with chestnuts and savoy cabbage) and reports on Chowhound that all three were first-rate. (The daily lineup might also include lobster mezzaluna with pan-fried chanterelles, pictured.) “I just found my new place for an authentic, reasonably priced, good Italian fix,” alepenazzi says.
