The holiday season is officially here, with turkey dinners, cocktail mixers, and ugly-sweater parties quickly filling up the calendar. Figuring out what to bring for potlucks or as host gifts can take some doing. On Chowhound, alphazulu asked a question: Where can you find the best fall treats in and around LA?

Porto’s Bakery makes a tremendous variety of seasonal desserts, but SIMIHOUND thinks the best is the mini pumpkin pie, priced at just $2.75.

SusieCakes in Brentwood is another popular spot. Right now there are mini pumpkin cheesecakes and pumpkin maple cupcakes with maple buttercream.

• Another option is Magnolia Bakery, where the pumpkin spice cake is speckled with dried cranberries and topped with caramel cream-cheese icing (it’s also available as a whoopie pie).

• For something a little more chill, Mateo’s Ice Cream (no website) makes pumpkin ice cream just for fall.
