In Queens, devotees of thick, square Sicilian-style pizza have been out of luck—until now. Mr. Bruno’s, an outpost of a pizza destination in New Jersey, opened recently in a shopping center in Jackson Heights. Its Sicilian pie is “absolutely fantastic,” yussdov raves on Chowhound, distinguished by “great sauce, excellent ingredients, the right amount of cheese, a chewy but not doughy crust.” Easily the tastiest Sicilian pie in Queens, it belongs in the conversation about the best in New York City, including the popular version at Brooklyn’s L&B Spumoni Gardens, yussdov adds. But hounds warn that Mr. Bruno’s other pizzas are forgettable. For anything other than Sicilian, they prefer Louie’s in Elmhurst or Gianni’s in Jackson Heights.
