Every year since 2000, Holly Hughes has edited an annual anthology that gathers up the best food writing from a range of sources: daily newspapers, magazines, websites, blogs. The just-released Best Food Writing 2012 holds a special distinction for CHOW.com: Two of our pieces were selected for inclusion. The first is John Birdsall’s “The Pastrami Dilemma,” a look at challenges in the artisan deli movement. The second is “Why Chefs Sell Out,” the first essay CHOW published by San Francisco chef Richie Nakano, founder of Hapa Ramen. We’re honored to have our writers share book space with others in this year’s anthology, including Brett Anderson, Francis Lam, John T. Edge, Kevin Pang, Corby Kummer, and Christine Muhlke. Go out and get a copy—it’s a fine read.
