Three weeks ago, Cousins Maine Lobster—one of LA’s dueling lobster-roll trucks—joined the Pasadena brick-and-mortar restaurant scene. The early word on Chowhound is positive. Fried Ipswich clam bellies with tartar sauce are tasty, though at $13.50 the small portion size could be an issue. Lobster rolls come in two sizes for $14 and $17, either hot or cold. They’re simple: just toasted brioche buns, chunks of buttery lobster meat, lemon, and a sprinkling of what might be Old Bay Seasoning. The menu’s also got lobster tacos and lobster bisque, though those will have to wait for future reviews. As for the signature dish, it’s worth a return visit. Chowhound pizzafreak, who thought the fried clams were “just OK,” rates the lobster rolls “very good.”
