Timmy O’Leary, better known to Chowhounds as Timmy O, won many devoted fans with his luscious frozen custard—then left them disappointed when he closed his Queens shop last year. Now he’s back, sharing space with a bakery just outside the city limits in Nassau County.

“The custard is still great,” stuartlafonda reports on Chowhound, even if the business arrangement is unconventional: The bakery, Polito’s, is often shuttered when the custard shop is open. But Timmy O, who will close for the season on October 31, promises to reopen in the same place next April. His new location may be out of the way for some New Yorkers, but stuartlafonda notes that there are strong food options nearby: hound-endorsed Indian at Southern Spice and the Long Island outpost of Thai destination SriPraPhai, “two joints that cry out for great ice cream after a meal.”
