Who says hot dogs never taste better than in a ballpark? This week LA hounds discussed where to get a classic dog without making the trip to Dodger Stadium. Many agreed that the place to go is Garage Dogs in Thousand Oaks.
The menu offers a serious variety of dogs and sausages, many with car-themed names like Cobra (a bacon-wrapped beef dog with barbecue sauce and cheddar cheese) and Chevelle (a steamed beef dog with baked beans, yellow mustard, and ketchup).
LesThePress thinks the spicy Polish dog is flavorful, with “a nice crisp bite,” though the French roll it came in was unnecessarily large. For something a little different, nikkihwood likes the deep-fried Jersey Ripper. Garage Dogs also offers a long list of hamburgers and sides. The chili, fries, and baked beans with bacon all have their fans.
