For lovers of Chinese food, autumn marks the return of moon cakes, the pretty, glossy pastries filled with bean paste or salted egg and often imprinted with Chinese characters. In recent moon cake talk on Chowhound, gordon wing mentioned he’d tried the black bean moon cakes at Mongkok Dim Sum on Noriega in San Francisco’s Outer Sunset and found them delicious: a moist filling in fresh, thin pastry shells.
