In San Francisco, everybody’s got a favorite sandwich, whether it’s an Ike’s Fat Bastard with extra Dirty Sauce (hold the line), pressed perfection on superb bread from Tartine, or Rhea’s much-loved pork katsu. But possumspice has a new favorite sandwich shop: V-105 in Upper Market.

possumspice tried both turkey and beef-cheek sandwiches. The latter was “meltingly tender … the kind of thing you might get at a nice restaurant on a bed of polenta.” The sandwiches came with a simply dressed arugula salad, “a nice counterpoint” to their richness. “This is not health food,” possumspice warns: “Even the turkey came topped with bacon and melted cheese.”
