Nick’s Coffee Shop & Deli is a throwback to what Los Angeles food was like 30 or 40 years ago, says pammi. “Nothing has changed, and that’s a good thing,” she says. “Everything is yummy, comforting, and fattening.” The restaurant is comparable to Los Angeles cultural institutions like Phillippe’s, The Apple Pan, and Langer’s, in the sense that it features food that’s been made the same way for decades. There’s nothing newfangled here; Nick’s specializes in old-school food like big pancakes, hot chocolate with mountains of whipped cream, patty melts, and Farmer John sausages, says pammi. lad1818 especially recommends the blueberry-walnut pancakes. “I love this place so much I want to marry it,” lad1818 says.
