No trip to the North Shore is complete without a stop for fresh seafood, and whether it’s a lobster roll or fried clams, Bob Lobster in Newbury has you covered. What started as a commercial lobster business 25 years ago has transformed into a popular destination for fried seafood and lobster dinners, and chuck s thinks it’s a great alternative to his usual favorites, Essex Seafood and the Clam Box. “Delicious lobster rolls,” he says, “and the fried clams [are] the best I’ve had in quite a while.”
Taralli likes ordering a combo of fried whole belly clams and fried oysters, and tdaaa says the scallops and fish and chips are always delicious. “Bob Lobster is a hidden gem,” says Small Plates, who spends time on Plum Island every year. “Nothing says summer to me more.”
The restaurant is located halfway between downtown Newburyport and Plum Island, and in the winter, it’s open during the day from Thursday through Sunday. Summer season at Bob Lobster begins on April 16, and then the restaurant will be open every day.
