hhc recently put out the word that Smoking Pig BBQ in San Jose serves tasty ribs and an exceptional homemade peanut butter pie. Smoking Pig makes all its food and sauces on-site, and hhc spied a smoker out in the back parking lot.
She and her guest shared a two-meat combo with pulled pork and ribs. Other meat options included chicken leg quarters, Louisiana hot links, and beef brisket. They liked their dry-rub, Southern-style ribs, but thought the pulled pork was a tad too dry. Of the sauces available—honey, mustard, and spicy—hhc and her guest liked the honey sauce the best.
The $4.45 slice of peanut butter pie looks like it was the highlight of their meal: a chocolate cookie crust topped by not-too-sweet peanut butter filling and a cloud of whipped cream.
hhc notes that Smoking Pig is cash only, but it does have an on-site ATM.
