Food and drink that has us seeing gold
There is no other way to celebrate by eating burgers and sandwiches all month long! Lately, I’ve been in the mood for burgers and sandwiches with an egg. Either it is a fried egg over-easy, sunny side up or even scrambled. Having that extra protein is oh so delicious!
Below are a few spots I like to go to get my egg-cellent burger and sandwich cravings satisfied, along with a few places I have not tried yet, but recently added to my list of places to check out! If you’ve tried these places, let me know how you liked them and what other spots you would recommend in the comments!
Fresh Donuts & Bagels (Fremont, California): I am a huge fan of Fresh Donuts & Bagels! It is a ma and pa shop, which makes me fall in love with them even more. This place serves a mean breakfast sandwich on you choice of bagel or croissant. It consists of sausage, bacon, ham, cheese and eggs (your choice of style). Yum!
The Hideout Kitchen (Lafayette, California): This place is famous for their Waffle Sandwich (country fried steak, cheddar, over-easy egg sandwiched between two waffles, sausage, gravy, maple syrup, butter and powdered sugar). Definitely comfort food at it’s finest. The waffles are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and best of all this sandwich was able to withstand the country fried steak, runny eggs and gravy without falling apart! Delish!
Eggslut (Glendale, California): Slightly overhyped, but I have to admit that Eggslut is pretty darn good! Their menu focuses primarily on eggs and emphasizes that eggs aren’t only for breakfast anymore. My go-to item is the Fairfax with added bacon. The simple combo of the scrambled eggs, chives and cheese is amazing. Not to mention their brioche bun melts in your mouth!
SkinnyFATS (Las Vegas, Nevada): First of all, I am loving all of the new and upcoming food spots in Las Vegas! SkinnyFATS is one the places I would like to check out the next time I am in Sin City. They serve a burger called the Cherry Popper which features a half pound beef patty with Jack cheese, spicy slaw and pepper marmalade on a Hawaiian roll. And of course, topped with a fried egg!
Wild Chix & Waffles (Austin, Texas): I am a sucker for waffle sandwiches. I mean, you get the best of the sweet and savory, and not to mention you have endless options in how to create and eat the waffle sandwich. Wild Chix & Waffles serves a sandwich called What The Cluck, a savory option with maple glazed fried chicken, a sunny side up egg, bacon, cheese and Sriracha Mayo.
Public School 213 (Los Angeles, California): What came first, the chicken or the egg? We may never know… But, Public School serves a delicious looking chicken burger called What Came First. This burger consists of a smoky tomato jam, arugula, bleu cheese dressing, bacon lardons topped with a fried egg!
