RIP the new Rachel's Kitchen
Hoped to grab breakfast at Rachel's Kitchen this morning, only to find it under renovation with a sign that says "Mike and Patty's coming late August". I know that the original Rachel and Alon had moved onto Hungry Mother, and had found new folks (Erin and Megan) to carry on in their tradition, but those folks have apparently moved on. Anyone know anything about the new place?

That's too bad, Erin and Megan were very sweet, they fit the neighborhood well, but something was just missing after Rachel and Alon left. I think it was the iced coffee :)
Best of luck to Mike and Patty, whoever they are!

Agreed on all counts. I couldn't help missing Rachel and Alon everytime I went.
(My favorite Rachel and Alon story: my then-7-year-old daughter and I went for breakfast during Passover. My daughter was excited to see that they had matzo, so asked Alon for cheese melted on matzo, instead of her usual cheese melted on a bagel. But she then decided she wanted bacon, too, so Alon crumbed bacon on top of the cheese and matzo. The irony was lost on my daughter, but the rest of us enjoyed a good laugh!)
