We went to the restaurant a week after it opened. The food was pretty good but the menu is not extensive. However the chef is wonderful and he made us dishes that were not on the menu. Couple of weeks later, I had them cater a party and I have to say that I was very impressed. The quality of food was excellent and their service was impeccable. Usually, I find Indian catered food dripping with oil but these trays were done so professionally and well. Overall, a great experience. I highly recommend the place.

Can you handle spicy food? The mirchi ka salan was a hit at the party but it has a kick. I would also reccomend their black dal. I am a vegetarian so will not be able to help with non-veg items. We had chicken tikka masala, and lamb saag at the party and my guest enjoyed it.

how were the prices? was it indian food-ish prices like other indian's in westchester or is it "Irvington" prices?(overpriced)

The food in the restaurant is overpriced or as you call it Irvington price. However, the catering was beyond reasonable.

Chutney Masala is very overpriced for the food they give you and it's not subtle either.
This may be the first Indian restaurant I've ever been to that gives you two pieces of Tandoori Chicken when the rest of the world gives four... and you pay through the nose for it too. The food is good, but nothing to make you empty your wallet for when Westchester is full of places that are as good if not better.
The wait staff is nice and the decor has a refined, retro feeling (mostly because of the neat little building it's in).
I'm MUCH keener on Spice Village in Tuckahoe.

I have to disagree, I found the food much better than Spice Village. It is expensive, but I thought it was one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time. We had two vegetarian dishes (I forget the names), one was a chick pea based dish, with a lot of subtle flavor and just a bit of heat; the baby eggplant dish had sweet and sour sauce that was very good, not clawingly sweet like many. Was it pricey, yes, but what isn't these days. I thought that Bengal Tiger, spice Village, and many of the others in westchester that are supposedly the standard bearers really couldn't hold a cup to these guys. Even jackson diner down in queens has been totally boring for a few years now.
