Great Food - Bad Service Combos in Hudson Valley

The Stewart House in Athens tops my list of places that I just can't recommend because the service is so poor. It rates consistently between "just plain bad" and "get your stuff we're outta here!" Everything else about the place is great however. It's a tastefully restored 19th century brick hotel on the Hudson River directly across from a beautiful park at the spot where Tom Cruise crossed the Hudson in "War of the Worlds".

In the summer they have outside dining in their small garden at the waters edge. The food is terrific and not expensive. Last night I had the Rainbow Trout special that was fantastic. Served with a light sauce on a bed of spinach it was better than great and only $17. I found out about it when I replied "Do you have any specials?" to our waitress's "Are you ready to order?"
My partner's fish and chips came with 2 pieces of fish and the explanation that a third piece was forthcoming, one had dropped to the floor on the way from the kitchen!

We've been here 4 or 5 times over the last several years. It's a great destination for us coming out of Kingston. A nice ride, great ambiance, superior food and service that never fails to disappoint.
