Good wine shop in downtown San Antonio?

We'll be in San Antonio for a work conference, staying at the Omni La Mansion, and will not have a car. That said, we can walk or cab a few miles if necessary. I'd like to be able to buy a nice bottle of Champagne for a celebration with some colleagues. Any recommendations? TIA!

  1. Do they still make pearl beer in san antonio ? that's good stuff.

The Pearl Brewery is closed...... There are two liquor stores that sell wine (that I can recall). One is on Houston St coming back towards the Emily Morgan hotel. The other is on the street level of the parking garage that is on Commerce Street. I will ask to make sure I am not forgetting any locations. If there is a specific bottle (or price range or type), let me know and I can maybe arrange to make sure they have it at one of the locations for you.

Thanks, Mac8111! No need to arrange any particular Champagne; I'll just take a look at what they have. My particular favorites are currently grower estates (Egly Ouriet and Marc Herbert, but I probably butchered the spelling of those). The smaller grower producers seem to be a better price/quality ratio than the big houses, to my palate and pocket book anyway. And the folks I'm buying the bottle for are not wine geeks; I'm sure I can find something suitable from among the usual stock.
