Weekend without the girlfriends in Montreal
I will be coming to Montreal from NYC with a friend of mine while our girlfriends are away for a bachelorette party. Neither of us have been to Montreal before. We will be staying at the Sofitel which I believe is downtown. We need some restaurant recommendations for Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Keep in mind that we are in our late 20s and definitely plan on going out to bars, etc. after dinner so will probably be going for 9 or 9:30 reservations. I am willing to spend a decent amount of money but would like to keep to places with entrees in the $20-$35 range. I would like a good scene, good food and something that will have the right vibe to start the night. Thanks in advance for those with recommendations.

Sounds like you'd like Newtown. It's on Crescent street which is one of the major clubbing/bar streets in Montreal, and within walking distance from your hotel.

Garde Manger would fit the bill and you probably wouldn't have to leave to go bar hopping as this restaurant morphs into a hopping bar.

The food at Newtown is really good, but pricey. I found that it added up quickly. Being on Crescent, the vibe is right, though.

Definitely Friday or Saturday at Garde Manger--great food, rockin' atmosphere. Another funky spot to hit would be Le Resevoir on Duluth-- kind of a pub with unexpectedly good food, the location is in close proximity to St.Laurent where there are lots of clubs.

"Ginger" on pins corner st. laurent on fri or sat night.
its japanese. has amazing sushi but lots of other stuff too.
great food & scene.
right next to all the bars on saint laurent.
not touristy.. very local and trendy.
make a res or you wont get in.

Friday Night - I'ld suggest dinner and drinks in the Old Port
Garde Manger is fantastic, but very small. If you want to go out after, try Confessional or Cherry.
Saturday Night - head to St Laurent
Globe
Med
You can party at either place afterwards or walk the strip and find another club more to your liking
Sunday - if you don't mind being out of downtown area, I highly recommend RARE, in Little Italy - be sure to try the "gnocchi Poutine"
