Fresh Rhubarb?

Hello all,

I am looking to purchase fresh rhubarb this weekend to bake a strawberry rhubarb crisp. I haven't seen any yet at the Union Square Greenmarket and Whole Foods has been hit or miss as well. Has anyone seen it lately? I would prefer to stay downtown but can be flexible if need be.

Many thanks!

  1. I'm pretty sure I saw it at Union Square market last weekend, and have also seen it at Citarella and Garden of Eden.

Several vendors selling rhubarb at USQ today (also at Garden of Eden). I also saw, and bought, fiddlehead ferns for the first time this Spring, which I'm going to saute with some lovely local asparagus for dinner. Lilacs at every turn, by the way.

Fabulous, thanks so much for the tip!

    2. The Manhattan Fruit Exchange in Chelsea Market usually has every type of produce that is in season.

      1. I have seen it for several weeks at the Fruit Exchange in Chelsea Market. I keep wanting to buy it to make rhubarb dessert, but I can't settle on the best recipe. My grandma made a mean rhubarb dessert that was like a crisp, but not quite, and was really creamy...
