Best Restaurants Open Monday

Have an anniversary coming up on a God-forsaken Monday.

I would appreciate any advice on where to take my beautiful wife for a lovely dinner.

Continental or Japanese is preferred but not required. Even a good steakhouse would be ok.

Thanks in advance!

  1. Any geographic preferences? What sort of price range works best for you?

    1. re: Servorg

Why don't you just go where you want but on the night before or Saturday?

      1. re: Servorg

I am fortunate enough not to have any geographic or price restrictions.

Thanks for all the tips guys [and gals]!

If you are looking for the best restaurant in Los Angeles and one of the top restaurants in all of the US then you should take your wife to Urasawa in Beverly Hills. Without alcohol or tax and tip you are looking at $275 pp but
it is the only restaurant in LA that has NEVER had a negative review on this board, (and that is nothing short of a miracle).

              FOILED!!!

              CLOSED ON MONDAYS AND SUNDAYS!!!

Sorry about that. Maybe next year when your anniversary falls on Tuesday???

Providence is another place I would go for celebratory occasions. Reserve the chef's table and order chef's tasting menu. You two will be in a private room overlooking the kitchen. It will be a memorable experience. The chef de cuisine has worked in high end Japanese restaurants in both Taipei and Tokyo (and previously Water Grill), so his dishes have some Japanese flares to them. Very creative and tasty! In fact, I like the whole experience better than my recent meals at the French Laundry.

                Good luck!

Your beautiful wife deserves to be taken to Urasawa for a memorable anniversary! Call for reservation now!

                Indeed she does.

These 80 hour workweeks have made me very grumpy lately.

Time for some hardcore food therapy! ^_^

          2. Jiraffe in Santa Monica is open and runs a great prix fixe deal on Mondays. I think they post their menus on-line. It's a great, great place.

            1. Check out opentable.com and enter the Monday you need. You'll get a list and you can make your rez on line. I would still follow up with a phone call. I noticed that Cafe Del Rey in the Marina is open Monday. I've always been happy with the food, service and scene. Not too expensive. and Happy Aniversary.

              1. re: Baron

second cafe del rey because after dinner you can go to their lounge and sit on the comfortable sofa right in front of the fireplace and have a romantic after dinner drink and snuggle.
if you prefer, you could also stroll around the boat slips before getting back into your car.
i, too, have been pleased with cafe del rey. i normally eat there every other week or so.

              2. I would suggest Josie. Great food, lovely atmosphere for an anniversary, and no corkage on Mondays!

                1. Providence! And they have no corkage fee on Monday's.

                  1. re: Obessed

                    second providence

                  2. not particularly romantic, but sushi zo is open on mondays (they, like almost all good sushi bars, are closed on sundays and are open on mondays.)

                    1. Orris exhibits qualities of both continental (French, really) as well as Japanese, and in my opinion, works as a great "date night" spot.

                      1. re: SauceSupreme

orris, iirc, does not take reservations.
for me, this would not work for an anniversary dinner

                        1. re: westsidegal

                          Closed on Mondays too.

                      2. It's neither Japanese or Continental, but I would go to Water Grill in downtown LA.

                          may try water grill, thanks!

                        2. I, too, have an anniversary on Monday & was wondering the same thing.

                          1. Max in Sherman Oaks combines many different flavors, is open on Mondays, and serves wonderful food. Mention your specific need when making reservations and they even have a separate booth if you want to be slightly apart from the rest of the diners.

ask for table 21 (it's in an alcove).
