Ultrex Cookware

8 years ago I purchased a set of Ultrex Cookware. I have a glass cooktop and the bottoms are very flat. The company has gone out of business. There seem to be surface problems. I am not a big cook and so most of my pots and pans are in rather good condition, however I would like to get rid of them because of bad press. I have only had non stick pans for the last 100 years and everyone speaks so highly of All Clad. Are they tough to clean without a non stick surface? Any suggestions for a good flat product. I don't want le Cruset (too heavy).

  1. I've had Calphalon anodized sauce pans for 20 years now and they're in fine shape (I use mainly non-metal utensils). Being aluminum, they're quite light weight but have the requisite thickness.

    Marian Burros did an article about testing fry pans when she decided to get rid of her non-stick. Her top choice was Le Creuset, but I bought some moderately priced, French-made carbon steel pans that work great. Stainless steel she fdecided, as have many others, is a pain. Here's the article:
