Had dinner @ Mad Donna's last night and here is what we thought:
--Environment: after waiting close to a year for this restaurant to open we were hoping for an impressive eating environment. Unfortunately the long wait was all for not. The environment is very plain with a very basic seating layout. Main dining room sits on the first floor with a bar/dance floor on the 2nd floor.
--Service: Greeted by a friendly hostess. We decided to eat on the 2nd floor/bar area and unfortunately we felt they were understaffed. They had 1 bartender that was also acting as the server for this floor. Definitely could have used an extra set of hands.
--Food: ordered the stuffed burger (more like a hamburger meat with jalapenos, mushrooms mixed in) w/fries and a 22 oz. Stella. Burgers are cooked to order which is nice. Burger was a bit greasy; the hamburger was seasoned well. Fries could have used more time in the fryer. Total bill for burger and beer was $16 w/o tip. Seems a bit high for Nashville considering I can get a bacon and cheese burger with a stack of fries @ The Smith (www.thesmithnyc.com) in NYC for $13. Currently no lunch service.
Mad Donna's is a nice place to meet for drinks and appetizers. Prices are a bit high for the quality of food they are producing. Let's see if they can work the kinks out and step up their game. East Nashville is waiting....
