Personally I think Teikoku makes better sushi than Morimoto, and the atmosphere is just as nice. I haven't been to Teikoku in a while though. Zento's sushi is better than Morimoto as well IMO, but the atmosphere isn't really great for a special occasion.

2nd Teikoku although they've bumped their prices in the last year so a few pieces can get pricey quick. It also seems like they have scaled back what they offer in terms of fish. They have a nice bar to relax at before and after dinner and there is always a good crowd so call ahead. Zento and Uzu have the best sushi in the city but lack in atmosphere (both small, byo). If you want an authenic experience of omakase with out breaking the bank, try either, and bring a bottle of wine or two. I always find it amazing how some folks cannot look past morrimoto for high end sushi when there are fantastic options nearby.

Hey juice, I tried Uzu not long ago based on your recommendation, it was very good. I still like Zento better on account of their regular menu items and their special rolls, especially the Zento Square roll, which is better than any of the special rolls I had at Uzu. The atmosphere at Uzu is a bit more inviting than at Zento. Have you been to Misso yet (if it's open)?

Misso is open. I'm going next Saturday to celebrate my wife's new job. I will absolutely post a detailed review.

Hi, I'm wondering if you ended up going to Misso for dinner. I'm contemplating going there this weekend.

I have a 7:00 reservation there for this coming Saturday the 8th.

The Zento roll is very good. I spoke to the owner at Uzu last time I was there and he mentioned that he was going to change some of the menu items and create a new list of special rolls to keep the menu fresh. He and another chef opened a new place down on Ben Franklin called Kujaku (which is more Japanese/American fusion). I only had dinner there but it was good and worth a try if you are looking for a new and different. A friend ate lunch there last week and was raving about their Kobe burger. Looking forward to trying Misso.

The sushi at Morimoto is not what it used to be. If you want to go for really good sushi, go to Fuji in Haddonfield NJ. If you want to go for the decor, go to Morimoto.
Bluefin in Plymouth Mgt is not bad, but Fuji is much better.

Morimoto.
Teikoku is the best in the suburbs.

Matt Ito at Fuji in Haddonfield can hold his own with any of those restaurants and then some.
Frankly, I find Morimoto about the total experience and not the sushi. If I want sushi in the city I go to Zento, or to Fuji or Sagami in the suburbs.

I would add Ooka in the suburbs, especially the Doylestown locale.

It's a late post, sorry. I lived in Japan for eleven years. The best authentic sushi I have found in PA is Wakita in Glen Mills Pa. BYOSake though. PS, if you get to Portland Maine, Yosaku is the place.
