Google Map of Bay Area Portuguese food
I put together a map of all the Portuguese restaurants, bakeries and groceries that I know of in the Bay Area.

Searching the Chow database also has all of these businesses

I didn't put Iberia Restaurant on the map because even though it is flagged as Portuguese, it seemed totally Spanish to me. AVP Market carries house-made Portuguese as well as Brazillian linguica , but the market is really Brazilian and Latin American so that was left off the map also.

Is Duarte's linguica good? I think that's the only Portuguese item they serve.

I haven't had it at Duarte's, but yes that is a good liguica. It is served at both Grubstake and LaSalatte. I had it there. Somewhere on the board Melanie had a nice description of it. I just can't search on Chowhound anymore ... just too slow ... not the search itself but opening posts to see if they are the ones with the info I want.
I believe Melanie's brother actually had the tripe stew and there is a report about it somewhere on the board.

Wow, thanks so much! I can't wait to start working my way through this.

Are these maps being collected in a Chowhound (or other) repository (other than just posts)? All of the information you are providing seems insanely useful, especially if it could be uploaded into GPS devices, and it seems like such maps deserve a special place.

Just the maps and links back to Chowhound posts. I haven't played with Google yet to see if they can be uploaded into a GPS device. Some info is more or less static and it seemed like a good way of collecting it and not having to repeat it and probably leaving info out ... there was stuff I forgot about like that place in San Leandro where I really want to go.
