French Laundry reservation through AE?

I've read through every single thread re: tips on getting reservation at TFL. I'm wondering if anyone has used the American Express Platinum Concierge service for this purpose? Thanks for any other update on the reservation process, too.

  1. I think someone posted quite a while back about using one of the credit card concierge services to get a French Laundry reservation. IIRC, the concierge didn't have any special "in" -- they just assigned someone to keep calling until they got through early enough to get a reservation (I think it took several days, the person was flexible about the date). So if you are flexible about dates, that might be one way to save yourself the aggravation of calling yourself.

    1. It's worth a try.

I called up Amex Platinum Concierge. They said should be no problem because they have special connection with FL. They called back the next day and confirmed a 6 PM reservation on a Sunday night. I'm in bliss!

Wow! Congratulations! Please report back on your meal.

Wow, that is good to know. Thanks. Enjoy!

        2. Just last month, I got next day reservations at TFL through OpenTable. If you're flexible about dates, then use the "search for next available reservation" feature on OT to search over 30 days, instead of just one day. Set your reservation spec to 7:30, party of 4 to ensure that OT will look at both seatings for you.

If you happen to get Dennis as your waiter, tell him the "Dixie cup" table says hi.

          1. Thanks everyone. I'm really excited. I've been to Per Se and I hope FL also live up to my expectation.
