Gasp! Oh no, the rumors are true! Mekong Restaurant on O'Farrell has closed. It was one of my favorite places in the Tenderloin for Thai food. Apparently, it will be replaced by a Middle Eastern restaurant.

This is sad news indeed for us Civic Center denizens. Mekong was one of my favorite spots--not only was the food great and the owner charming, but they made a vegetarian version of almost anything so it was a good place for lunch with a "mixed" crowd. Boohoo.

That is devastating news. That was out favorite place for a group lunch for work. Great vegetarian dishes. The owner was so nice too.

Update: I just walked by there and it is already opened as another Thai restaurant.
