I have never heard of Mexican pizza. Is it just a particular style of pizza? Or is there another name for this dish in Spanish?

MC, certainly you've been to Taco Bell before:

If there is a Taco Town around here you could order the Pizza Crepe Taco Pancake Chili Bag [TM]. http://www.slashfood.com/2006/04/17/r...

I have been to Taco Bell, but I bet it's been twenty years since. This sounds not unlike a tostada, which is kind of what I was getting at, though I imagine if it's Taco Bell, we're talking refined-wheat-flour tortillas, not corn.

Pedro Diego's in Haverhill is the first place I ever saw or tried a Mexican Pizza.

They are pretty good, but I like nacho's more.

I've been to Pedro Diego's a few times, thought it was one of Haverhill's better dining-out options, but never had or even noticed Mexican pizza on the menu. Their chili verde is what sticks in my memory. Other places I enjoyed nearby: Keon's, Sal's Pizza, a tiny little Vietnamese place with respectable pho that I didn't expect to last, the Sunrise Cafe for quite fine diner-style breakfasts. Been a while since I dined out in Haverhill, though.

And Haverhill hardly complies with the OP's request for "something in Boston or surrounding areas that is T accessible."

Unfortunatrly PD's is not what it used to be, and hardly worth the trek from Boston for a Mexican pizza. On the other hand, I've made the trek from Haverhill to Angela's Cafe in East Boston at least 6 times since learning about Angela's.

Whilst the years I lived in Mexico, pizza was not a go-out-of-your-way product. It was always available when you had only 10 minutes or 3 dollars to spare. But ham & pineapple sold equally to pepperoni.

Rudy's in Teele Square, Somerville, has it on the menu and an app.

I used to order Mexican pizza regularly at T-Bones in Salem, NH. Certainly not accessible by T. I wonder if it's the same everywhere: very thin cracker-like crust (but not tortilla-based), chunky tomato sauce, cheddar/monterey jack cheese, jalepenos, black olives, onions on top. Basically nacho toppings on pizza crust.

There were a few places that made taco pizzas (taco meat, lettuce, non-melted cheese, salsa) when I lived in NY/NJ area, but I have yet to see that option around Boston. I do miss the taco pizza though.
