Myrtle Avenue and Bushwick eats?
Hello,
What are some places that I could drop into for food during my Bushwick wanderings? I've got a bunch of walks planned before Jan 7th which include much of eastern and north eastern Brooklyn; this is one. Myrtle, Bushwick and Broadway Aves would probably be combined into one day. Upon reach the end of them, I would scout out the borders of Brownsville and ENY before I begin my walk there the following day or in a couple of days. Any food reccs? Any sight reccs?
I need to buy a tiny range finder camera ASAP as I forgot to take any of my cameras from London (it was more like "Oh it'll be too cold. I won't want to.", but then I get here and realize that one of my biggest hobbies back home is taking photos in far off areas. Woops!)

What exactly are you looking for? I live in the area and I'll be honest, there's not much I can recommend as far as dining options.

Lots of options on Broadway, as well as Myrtle. You'll find plenty of Spanish and Soul food restaurants. Previous poster needs to get out more.

Yeah, Wickster, I've lived here for 4 years, have tried the options in the area and frankly, there's nothing remarkable. Manna's on Broadway is decent, but unremarkable. All of the chicken and rice places are meh - nothing exciting or special about any of them that I've tried, and frankly, if I want good Mexican food I'll cook it myself, thank you. If you think this area is a destination for good dining, you're delusional.

I did the entire walk by walking primarily Broadway and using Bushwick to see some of the brewer's mansions and to pass St Marks. I transitioned to Myrtle for the trip through ENY and then followed the 1885 elevated tracks from Van Siclen to Jamaica.
During the B'way portion, I sampled Mexican stuff from a few bodegas and two carts. Nothing amazing, but enough to keep me full throughout the walk. When we arrive at Hillside Avenue we walked to Ghoroa for dinner.
Fun walk!
Oh and btw. The gate to the old remains of the Myrtle Ave elevated track above modern JMZ B'way/Myrtle station was open! It was absolutely awesome! 1950s era lights, a bit of remaining wooden platform and a perfect view along the tracks from ENY to the city.
