"Korean" carrot salad by the pound?
Anyone know where I can get some of this in large quantities here in Queens? I always see it in little plastic containers in Russian delis and have even called some of the Uzbek restaurants we've had it in, but no one seems to sell it in quantity....I could always buy a ton of the little containers I suppose, but I was hoping I could place an order.
Any ideas?

Cheeseboy, "Korean" carrot salad is actually not Korean :) It's served in Uzbeki/Tashkent restaurants. Can't remember why it's referred to as "Korean"... Thanks for the link though. I live in Flushing and frequent many of the mentioned Korean markets daily, and it's great to have a place with all of their numbers....

IIt is Korean. The Uzbeks and other Soviet Central Asians got it from the hundreds of thousands of ethnic Koreans from Siberia forcibly relocated to that part of the USSR in the 1930s, as Korean resistance to the Japanese occupation began spilling over the border. To this day, the former Soviet Central Asian countries all have substantial Korean minorities, especially Uzbekistan.

Thanks for the info; I knew there was a story behind it, but could not recall it. Strange that in dozens and dozens of Korean meals here in Flushing and even in Korea, I've never encountered it at a restaurant as part of my pan chan...Any clue why that is?
