Oakland or Berkley Restaurant
I'm fly into the oakland airport and want to have a great dinner very soon after landing. I was thinking Chez Panisse but their only reservation available is later than I want. Any other suggestion for great food within 20 minutes of the airport? Thanks.

There are lots of great Oakland and Berkeley restaurants, but you might need to expand your choice to within 30 minutes of the airport, depending on the time of day and the amount of traffic, since Chez Panisse can be around 30 minutes from Oakland airport. First, did you try both Chez Panisse upstairs and downstairs? If not, try the other restaurant and see if a reservation is available at your preferred time. Otherwise, the restaurants that I'd recommend are Oliveto (at the same price point and level of fancyness as CP), Eccolo, and at lower price points, Pizzaiolo, A Cote, Dopo, Cesar (both the Oakland and Berkeley outposts), and Wood Tavern. All are discussed a lot on this board, so if you do a search, you can find out a great deal.

Oliveto or A Cote hands down and about 20 min away, best to cut over to the 580 hwy. and not take the 880 Hwy, then to the 24 Hwy exit Broadway then you have either Oliveto or A Cote on College Ave. That would be the easiest way.

Agree with all of Jasmine G's recs.
Here's a recent topic that goes into more detail on many of the restaurants she named, plus addresses:

Also, most of these restaurants have online menus that are updated frequently (some even daily). Worth it to take a look, see if anything's especially appealing.

You could hit the Fruitvale area for tacos and burritos.

As mentioned -- it really is a drive time issue. Oakland Airport to Chez Panisse could take 45 minutes on heavy freeway and urban driving.
Great food w/i 20 minutes (regardless of time) is iffy. Soizic on Jack London Sq or Tamarindo in downtown Oakland might work. But Chez Panisse or Oliveto are the surest thing.
