Knish Knosh on Queens Blvd at 67th Rd. great pigs in a blanket and they also have mini knishes.

Knish Knosh is HISTORY, they are not what they used to be.
Try 2nd Ave Deli's new place.

i travel from Long island to pick up the pigs in a blanket at knish knosh. I like them because the crust is thin and crispy. If you like a flaky crust you will be disappointed.

Seems like knish nosh is the place to go. That is where I have always gone. Any other opinions or is that really THE place to go?

Well, it's in the Bronx so slightly out of scope, but Leibman's Deli in Riverdale makes excellent mini-franks, wrapped in a dough that's thicker than puff pastry and works really well with the meat (and mustard, of course). Good mini-knishes, too (also made in-house).

Knish Knosh does have excellent pigs in blankets, as well as great knishes. Especially good are the pastrami stuffed potato knishes!
Suggestion: why not make your own pigs in blankets? Purchase some frozen puff pastry and either regular hot dogs or mini-dogs. Thaw a sheet of the pastry, cut to size, wrap the dog (moisten the pastry to make the seam stick), and bake. Great results! We usually wrap whole regular hot dogs, then cut them up into rounds prior to baking them off. Serve with toothpicks and mustard.

Have you tried the upscale ones from Dufour Pastry?

Hebrew National frozen (Zabars or Fairway carry the 40 pcs box) is always the first item to be finished whenever I serve them (and I'm a culinary school grad).
They may not be the most elegant, but are exactly what people expect a pig in blanket to be like.

Absolutely agree about Hebrew National. Convenient to have 40 frozen in a box, and much cheaper than gourmet brands - only about $11.99 a box, and you can find them just about anywhere. They also bake up consistently better than those expensive brands, too. I love them.

Can't find them in SF-Bay Area markets -- can anyone help?

very easy to make.
pkg of mini dogs
pkg of puff pastry
defrost pastry. lay out and cut unto strips about 1/2-3/4 the length of the dogs. cut length to fit around dog and pinch ends. Wrap and place with the pinched side down. Bake at 400 for 25-30 minutes

Erica,
I have not. Where can I find them?
Thanks!

I have seen them in the usual gourmet shops in NYC...I think Whole Foods carries them. I have not looked in a while...give them a call and ask:
