Sabletine Fine Pastries in Kitchener
Anybody know anything about the place (it's right beside the Bauer Lofts still under construction)? I'll pass by there later on and report on it.

It just opened to the public yesterday. I haven't been in yet, but the pastry chef designed and made my wedding cake last year (actually a beautiful tiered display of meringue-crowned sponge-and-mousse cakes - visually stunning and delicious.) I expect the selection will be beautifully presented and delectable. Hours are Tue-Fri 9a-6p; Sa 8a-1p & afternoons by appointment, though I imagine initially if you stop in by chance on a Saturday afternoon they'll open for you if they can. Closed Sun-Mon. I'll also be passing by within the next few days to indulge!

Update - I popped by this afternoon - it's a lovely little jewel of a place. Highly recommended, and long overdue in this area. I had a fantastic olive/tomato/bocconcini quiche that was the best I've had in years - high cream content, substantial, but still melty & flaky buttery crust, wonderful pear-marzipan tart (I'm special-ordering them for next weekend, if she can find more tiny pears!), and a ganache-coated dark chocolate-mousse & hazelnut crunch concoction that was stunning and texturally splendid (though I personally preferred the simpler pear tart as a fall dessert). They do soups & sandwiches too for lunch but I have a feeling I might get stuck on the pastries...
