Tips for Dining, Eating and Food Shopping in Ontario (including Toronto and Ottawa)

1. Bumping this thread to see if anyone has any Uxbridge recommendations (restaurants, bakeries, butcher shops, etc). My parents just moved up there so want to pass on some chow tips. Thanks in advance.

      I'm interested as well. The most exciting thing for me when driving through Uxbridge to get hoem from cottage country is the new Kawartha Dairy store that they opened.

2. We ended up going to Sixty-Six on Brock - it was pretty good. Sort of 'Tapas' style eating which was nice. Sweet pot. fries were awesome!!!

   I asked b/c we used to live there and I wanted to see if there was anything new.

   We used to have lunch at Don's on Main (tea house - pretty good!); butcher shop on Brock street - forget what it's called is where we would get some of our meats.

         I keep hearing about it too - would be very interested to hear from anyone who has been. Apparently it's in the old tannery, and is quite lovely and expensive by local standards. I understand they also own a little lunch/tea place in town as well, but I can't remember the name...it's near the Hobby Horse Arms.

4. Absolutely try the Tin Mill. I've lived in Uxbridge for four years, and the only thing I've missed about the city is the restaurants. I've eaten at the Tin Mill several times since it opened this year and haven't been disappointed. It was an old, unsightly tannery, and now it's a beautiful, warm room plus patio. The owners care about food and drink.

   66 on Brock is pretty decent, though the price/portions ratio can be disappointing at times. I second the sweet-potato fries recommendation!

      We tried the Tin Mill, but it was too busy. We ended up at 66 on Brock and LOVED it. It was fairly pricey, but the food was wonderful. Only disappointment, was that we couldn't fit in dessert. We decided next time we go, we'll have wine and appetizers and then move on to dessert.
