Berry Berry (Addison)

We've got Sprinkles. Now we've got the West Coast yogurt craze as well. I know, I know, it's really a Korean thing. I noticed this tonight and probably caused an accident as I flew across the street. Since hearing about Pinkberry my eyes have been peeled for anything with berry in the name. The location is just west of Midway on the north side of Belt Line. They had four flavors: plain, cappuccino, apricot/peach, and custard. They were all very tasty but the plain was simply wonderful. It had that great yogurt tang and was not overly sweet, though I would have gone with even a little less sweetness. They also have a wide selection of toppings that looked pretty fresh for the most part. A small, which is a good size, is 2.50, and for the amount of flavor you're getting it's a great deal. Thankfully, I live nowhere near there. Curiously when I mentioned Pinkberry the owner said "Yeah, we've been compared to them," as if it were not a direct copy, and he simultaneously came up with the idea.

  1. Ooh, I saw a Pinkberry while I was recently in Long Beach and unfortunately, wasn't quite able to give it a try. I'll stop by this place some time!

    1. berry berry obviously didn't come up with the idea simultaneously, however the ingredients are significantly different. Pink berry claims all natural products, but its not. Berry Berry actually uses real yogurt in their frozen yogurt. Anyways I think its delicious! Very light!

How do you know that Berry Berry actually does?

      2. I talked to some of the workers at BerryBerry and they said that a medium (which is a good sized portion) of the frozen yogurt has 150 calories. The flavored ones are nearer to 200 calories, but they disguise the fact that they are sugar free quite well. I don't know whether the health benefits of yogurt remain, but considering 150 calories of ben and jerry's is from 1/4-1/3 cup, this is a good thing regardless.

I was in the area and tried the plain version w/ papaya. I agree about the portion size. I ordered the small and could only eat half.

Very tangy - like real yogurt - and surprisingly creamy and dense for low fat. I loved it, but I'm sure a lot of people won't find it sweet enough. They will let you try any flavor before you order, so I'd suggest that first.

I'm also glad I live far away from them, or I could easily convince myself to go every day. Especially since tomorrow the flavor of the day is Green tea. ;-)

        2. Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to try it tonight!
