Northwest Philadelphia Bakery Tour

I am planning a little Saturday morning bakery tour in Northwest Philadelphia. So far, the list includes Mom's Bakery on Stenton Avenue (hot cinnamon buns when they open at 8, sweet potato pockets), and the High Point Cafe on Carpenter (for scones and pastries). Are there any other small bakeries in the Germantown / Mt. Airy / Chestnut Hill / Oak Lane / Roxborough area that you would recommend? Can anyone tell me about Cafe Roma on Ridge Avenue? Thanks!

    1. Cake in Chestnut Hill?

      1. Night Kitchen has its good items - it's on Germantown, just past Mermaid. There's a bread bakery - Baker street - but I'm not that big on it. Cake is really good (have they reopened yet?) There's a Metropolitan, but you can find that elsewhere too of course.

        1. I'm late to this party, since Saturday has come and gone, but I must mention my everlasting devotion to the pecan sour cream coffee cake at Night Kitchen. That's as good as it gets.

          1. Cake on W. Highland for to-die-for scones; Night Kitchen for to-die-for sticky buns; Bredenbecks for to-die-for petits fours.
