  1. I like the Mexicatessen Place on Atlantic, sort of like Titos and Pepes on Valley Blvd. The Litas and the otherplaces I tried in Arcadia/Monrovia did not do it for me. If you want to try something really unique try this taco place.

We have been going to Bill's since the 50's. My brother-in-law nicknamed it "Lardy Bill's" and it was always a destination place after weekend partying. I was pleasantly surprised a few years ago to learn it was still there and still basically the same food. For crispy tacos, we like the hamburger/potato tacos at Ordonez Mexican Restaurant on Garfield just south of the 60 freeway, Lupes Burrito stand on 3rd street a little east of King Tacos and for beef and chicken tacos Raphael's on Beverly at Wilcox.

Your the one I have to blame for the extra 5 lbs. I saw your post and went on a mission. I went to Howards Avocado Burgers, Ketchey's II & Bill's #2, then I found the Original! Oh man are those good tacos, have mercy! Where is Ordonez, is it across from J&S on Garfield?

I like Mexi-Catessan too for hard shell tacos and yes, Ordonez is across from J&S. I believe they are open 24 hours or very late as well. I think they are OK but avoid their chile verde

ground beef and potato sounds yummy, do they have good salsa?

            1. re: Burger Boy

It has been a long time since my last visit and don't remember the salsa too well (I'm sure it is fine though). I do however love that dark brown salsa across the street at J&S :)

        2. re: Neta

Hey Neta, is this Bill's related to the old Bill's Paradise that used to be in Montebello? I used to frequent that place back in the day

          1. re: Ernie

Ernie, did Bill's Paradise have "ladies" in small amounts of clothes sort of dancing around? Wink Wink Nudge Nudge

            1. re: Burger Boy

LOL, no but it did have an island/tropical theme

              1. re: Ernie

What could be better, good food (tacos), tropical drinks & almost undressed ladies. now that is paradise!

                1. re: Burger Boy

The Other Ball on Valley Blvd. was better. French Dips, drinks, and a better show. I must have focused on the food though because I really miss the French Dips.

            2. re: Ernie

Hi Ernie. No, I don't think there was any relation. Ordonez has good salsa and they are open 24 hours on the weekends but I don't think they are during the week. J & S used to have good tacos but havn't had any for a long time. Also, they had really good chile verde burritos but don't know about now. I love the menudo at Ordonez as well. My BH loves the chicken tacos there.
