Mounds and Almond Joy to be made outside the country by years end!

Local news here in CT that Hershey's is closing down the Peter Paul Mounds and Almond Joy factory in Naugatuck, CT. It probably won't taste the same anymore. They are outsourcing to either Mexico or China.

  1. I get being distressed about jobs moving away from the towns where Hershey has factories. But on what basis can we say "it probably won't taste the same anymore?" Its not like these are small batch, hand made confections to begin with.

    1. I believe it to be Mexico. They are also supposed to be closing the plant in Smith Falls Ontario. NO more chocolate vacations.....we'd always visit the factory in Smith Falls every summer. My kids love it!

      1. That's lousy news for the town and for the employees, but it won't taste the same? Maybe you're right: the coconut might be fresher since it wouldn't have to travel as far, and they might replace high-fructose corn syrup with cane sugar.

        1. Hershey is in big trouble. They just announced the Reading, PA plant will close along with 260 jobs. So much for "The Great American Chocolate Bar".
