Breadfruit & other fruits not to miss In Honolulu
I have never eaten the Bounty's bounty but I am intrigued to try - does anyone know where I can eat this? I am on the look out for rambutan and Lillikoi(?) any other exotic SE asian fruits to try?

I haven't spent much time in Honolulu, but I would imagine your best bet would be farmer's markets and fruit stands. Rambutan (tastes very much like lychee IMO but maybe a little less sweeter) and passion fruit (lilikoi) can be found at just about any supermarket. When I went to the Big Island, they had dragon fruit in the store. You can get durian at just about any asian grocery store, look for the frozen food section, as its cheaper than the fresh stuff. Durian is one of the rare fruits that doesn't lose any taste, texture, etc from being frozen.

i love lilikoi!!!!! (passion fruit) the best place to go would be chinatown =) i'm sure you can ask around.. but the selections of SE asian fruit are AMAZING... wow... =) very very sweet... one of my friends went crazy when she saw dragonfruit.. i thought it was okay, but she LOVED it and it reminded her of the motherland =)

On the Big Island, at the Hilo farmer's market, I found incredibly fresh mangosteen, one of my favorite fruits ever. The are the size of a large plum, with a thick purple rind, and large flat green leaves on top. The inside fruit is white and segmented like a citrus fruit. The flavour is a combination of citrus and apricot. If you can find this fruit, eat large qunatities of this fruit!
I also found a fruit I have never seen, a chocolate persimmon. Very interesting, but a little bland.
