Bequet Confections - Yummy Caramels

I haven't seen anyone mention these here yet, so I figured I would.

Last week I decided to order some caramels from Bequet Confections. I received them today and being the certified "caramel freak" that I am, tore right into them.
Well, I have to say that I was impressed. The best way I can think of to explain the taste of these is "buttery, sweet goodness".

The taste of the caramels is dominated by butter and sugar. Just the way a caramel should be, in my opinion. They come in six different flavors/types: chewy, soft, espresso, chipotle, chocolate and celtic sea salt. I ordered the 16 oz. bag (approx. 40 caramels) of a mixed variety. You can mix and match your caramels any way you like, and there are plenty of options on the website to do this. There are also a variety of sizes of bags or boxes to choose from.

I had a few questions before placing my order, so I emailed them. Robin Bequet emailed me back quickly and efficiently, answering all my questions.

So far, I've tasted five of the six flavors (all but espresso). Here are my opinions:

Chewy: predominant buttery flavor. Nice and chewy, but not filling-pulling. Exactly what I think a caramel should be.

Soft: same flavor as chewy. Much softer and practically melted on the tongue.

Chocolate: buttery flavor is overwhelmed by decent chocolate flavor. Probably my least favorite, because I really like that whole buttery thing.

Chipotle: caramel flavor followed by a burst of heat on the tongue. A very different experience and I was surprised that I actually liked it. No extra flavor, just heat.

Celtic Sea Salt: my favorite for sure. The soft caramel is scattered with flakes of sea salt inside. Not so much as to be overwhelmingly salty, but a nice background of salt, punctuated by the crunch of individual flakes. The salt really does burst on your tongue and the mixture of sweet and salt is very nice. I could eat a bunch of these.

If you're looking for some tasty caramels (especially salted ones), I highly recommend Bequet Confections. Their customer service is great, they ship quickly and put out a high quality product. I'll be ordering again, for sure!

  1. Thanks for the rec, QB. Those salted caramels have my mouth watering.....

    1. Mmm! I just got some of these from Cacao in Portland. They are delicious! Despite not liking coffee flavored sweets that much, the espresso caramel was great.

      1. Bumping this because I just received my second order. A 2lb bag of Celtic Sea Salt caramels. Absolutely, mouthwateringly delicious. A very reasonable price, especially if you buy in the bulk bags.

They've also expanded their flavors to include chocolate salt, licorice, maple and pomegranate.

Yup. Exquisite. Thanks for the recommendation!
