How Long Can I keep Homemade Eggnog?

We made homemade eggnog Friday night. We used whipping cream, pasteurized eggs, milk and sugar plus liquor. I'm hoping it will stay good for a full week, but I really don't know if it's safe to do so or not. All of the ingredients used had experation dates past next week, not sure if that matters now that they've been used in a recipe. Any ideas?

  1. I drink my homemade eggnog well after a week later and it's fine. And I use fresh eggs, so that's the only thing I worry about. Their is no concern with your ingredients at all.

    1. We made a batch for drinking and frozse one for using as batter for french toast. 10 days later the batter eggnog was fine. But like you, I would hesitate past say 10 days.

      1. My friends always make egg nog on Thanksgiving and give me a jug and say don't drink it till Christmas as it's not "ready yet". I drink it every Xmas and have not gotten sick yet...

        1. There was one thread a few days ago about this with an article link attached. It mostly said that the longer it sits, the better it gets. The alcohol render any bacteria that may be present harmless. In fact, the article mentioned keeping the stuff for months and even as long as a year in the fridge! In other words, if you've got some alcohol in there, you should be fine for a little while ;-)

          1. The colder the fridge and the more alcohol, the longer it'll keep.

It will taste and smell off when it starts to spoil.
