Suggestions on presentation for dessert bars/bar cookies
I was just wondering what the best way is to make dessert bars look pretty and appealing. Is it best to just slice and place on a platter? Or slice and put in those individual dessert cups. Is is typically a cupcake liner that is used or some other type of cup?

Bar cookies look very good in either foil or paper baking cups, like the ones used for cupcakes. The Wilton Company makes a line of very pretty ones for holidays and special occasions. (Available at supermarkets or craft stores).
Full size cups are good for large pieces, and midget ones are good for smaller pieces.
They're practical too because some bar cookies can be sticky and the cups make the piece easy to remove from the platter. Use a nice serving dish or tray. It can be lined with a doily if you want an elegant presentation.

having made up thousands and thousands of dessert platters over the ten years I ran a corporate catering business, I always found the most attractive way of cutting up dessert bars was to make a rectangular bar and cut in half on the diagonal - and then platter up in a circular pattern with the tips of the triangle sticking out so you had a "flower-like" pattern
My typical dessert platter would consist of a round platter with housebaked cookies lining the outer rim, then the brownies on the next rung in and fill in the middle with rugelach or some small bite sized cookie and garnish with fresh strawberries and small bunches of green and red grapes.
Hope this helps
