2 new Super Bowl Snacks?
Okay we aren't even football fans and I can't tell you when I last looked at anything to do with football but....the new issue Jan/Feb came of Saveur. I may have to try these on the day because they seem so perfect for the occasion.
First Philly Cheesesteak Spring Rolls, they give the recipe for these with a dipping sauce and it is a double wrapped spring roll and second, they cite the Ruby Tuesday Buffalo Chicken Wing wontons as a great new appetizer. No recipe on that one but how hard could that be? The cheesesteak spring roll could also be downsized to a wonton too to make it a bit more bite sized. There goes the good eatng plan. Okay, just one.

Sounds great, Candy. I've been doing the wonton/dim sum thing lately and you just gave me an idea. I always make teriyaki chicken wings for Super Bowl Sunday. I marinate them in my own sauce overnight in an ovenproof bag (low-sodium soy, splash of dry white wine, ginger, minced garlic, bit of sugar) and then bake the whole bag in the oven at 350 degrees for an hour or so. Think I'll do this the day prior and make either potstickers or wontons out of the wings. It seems everyone loves Buffalo wings but we are major wooses in our house and don't like things too spicy. If you're like me, you'll spend most of the game in the kitchen and then you won't have to actually watch it :--) Have a good time!

Oh, my DH has no interest in football either. The superbowl will not be on in our house. But those snacks...that is something else.I went to the Ruby Tuesday site and they say the wontons have a chicken and cheese filling. I'm thinking of shredding cooked chicken breasts and tossing that with melted butter with the hot wing seasoning that we like (Frank's and a little sirracha) and sealing and frying. Then serve with some blue cheese sauce for dipping. But those Philly Cheesesteak spring rolls really have me intrigued.

Hmmm. You've given me an idea, too, Candy! I make this really GOOD Buffalo Chicken dip that Val posted here some time ago and I bet it would make a great stuffing for wontons. Maybe a little less 'soupy'. MMMMM. Perfect for Super Bowl snacks! Thanks!
