City Pub, Redwood City

I enjoyed a nice lunch with friends at City Pub yesterday. It's got nice menu of appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, pasta, and some entrees. The food was a bit "lighter" than traditional bar food with healthier options on the menu like garden burgers and a crab cake sandwich (sounded very good but I didn't get to try it). Very good combo appetizer of fried zucchini, mozzarella sticks, and fried calamari. The appetizer portion of barbecued baby backs was also quite good. The sauce seemed bottled but had a nice kick to it. I tried some of the clam chowder, a special for the day. It wasn't thick or gummy with flour at all and had nice chunks of clams without too much potato. My burger was good but I thought the toasted bun could've had more substance to stand up to the thick patty. Very friendly staff and lovely outdoor tables to catch some winter sun. They even brought out a slice of peanut butter and chocolate pie when they found out it was my friend's birthday. Highly recommended if you're in the area.
