Depending on your mood, up the street from Cafe Azteca on Common Street is Bruno's Deli for hot & cold sandwiches, and home cooked italian meals. Close by within sight is Tripoli's Pizza and Napoli's Pizza.
On Merrimack Street towards the North Andover line is Sal's Just Pizza. On Broadway you will find Cedar Crest for diner type meals, and further up Broadway towards Malden Mills is Tacos Lupita. On South Broadway is T & N for Pho. Hope this helps.

I believe Napoli's Pizza recently closed.

Really...I'll have to drive by today. It was open two weeks ago when I went by. That would be a bummer if it did. I'll post my findings this afternoon.

Thanks everyone!

Glad to report that Napoli's is still open. I didn't stop in...went to Bruno's for a Rice Ball.

Sorry to put the bug in anyone's mind that Napoli's closed. I seem to remember an article in the Globe a few months ago that one of the pizza shops down in that general neighborhood closed. Does anyone know?
I'm pretty much a Tripoli's pizza person. And I love their cannoli.

When I'm in Lawrence, and I'm in the mood for pizza, I usually go with Tripoli's. If your ever in Haverhill on the weekends, there is a Napoli pizza on White Street thats only open on the weekends (take away only) that makes an unreal tray pizza, with grated cheese, or you can get it with mozzarella. It's well worth the trip.

Napoli's is AWESOME.....well worth the trip....

The place that closed was Pappy's Bakery on Common Street. It was located diagonally across from Tripoli's.

Bishop's in Lawrence has good quality Greek food and is a veritable landmark.
Yokihama on Rt 28 serves up Japanese food Tepanyaki style (you know, the chefs prepare your food in front of you on the hibachi).
These aren't necessarily places for a quick lunch, but their food is excellent.

Sorry, but Bishop's is long gone...a few years now. Sad but true.

oh, I loved this place and used to go there all the time when I worked in Lawrence, their greek salads were great!

Just an FYI: Bishop's is indeed closed but many of the people who worked there went on and started the Phoenician Restaurant up the road on Route 28 in Salem NH. The menu is supposedly very similar to Bishop's.
I went there once shortly after they opened but since I've never been to Bishop's I have no basis of comparison. I enjoyed my meal although I can't remember what it was...
It's always packed when I drive by in the evening, although that doesn't mean much.

Yes, I heard about the Phoenician in Salem, NH. I have heard mixed reviews about it, and have been reluctant to give it a try, as well as recommend it to anyone. I guess I should find out for myself though. Maybe I'll take the mother's their for Mother's Day. Thanks.

DO NOT waste your time at the Phonecian. I have NEVER had even what I could call a decent meal there. It is an EXTREMELY poor representation of one of the finest restaurants ever, Bishop's

see what i mean...well, I guess i'll, "forget about it"

Tey Shadi's right over the line from Salem N.H. to Methuen on RTE. 28(S). Right after the municipal building take a right and a left at the fire station. AWESOME arabic food and great atmosphere.

Sorry to hear about the Phonecian. I was a huge fan of Bishop's takeout. And I loved their salads (hold the mint, please) with their fabulous creamy dressing and paper thin Syrian bread.
Does anyone happen to know if they made their bread in house or if they got it from George's Bakery?

I'm almost sure the pita bread came from Korbani's Bakery on Swan Street in Methuen which is still around. I like both George's and Korbani's.

Is the Loft & Ladle still open? It always had good, consistent food at very reasonable prices. Loved their turkey dinner.

What about Mounir's? Any recent reviews?
