A little roasting goes a long way
They both taste great
When offering gum doesn't cut it
A wintry take on a warm-weather classic
With a pinch of cayenne
Not as sweet as the store-bought, with great spice

La Fortuna and The Putnam House in Bethel are pretty upscale and have good food. La Fortuna is high end Italian and Putnams is more traditional American Fare - I had a great Prime Rib dinner there.

I like La Fortuna's also. I would also recommend Ondine's (Austrian/French). For really terrific pizza (but BLAH atmosphere--First & Last Cafe), for expensive French--Bernard's in Ridgefield.

We always go to Ondine for special occasions. It offers a prix fixe traditional French menu, and they do offer an a la carte menu, but I can't remember if it is offered only during the week or on weekends or both. They also have a Sunday brunch. The last time we were there (two months ago) and every other time for the past six years we've been going, it did not offer Austrian cuisine, as one poster noted, only French.

That's interesting. The last time I went to Ondine's I had the schnitzel. My husband had roast duckling...my son had frog's legs... It seemed like it was an Austrian/French mix.... but that was at least a year ago. So its all French now. I'll have to go again.

La Zingara in Bethel has become my favorite restaurant in the area.
