Dinner in Hatford with Teens

We're heading down to Hartford next Thursday night for a Robotics tournament, arriving in time for dinner. It's 3 adults, and 6 15-year-olds. Any suggestions for a fun place with good food?

Thanks!

  1. I would suggest Black Eyed Sally's...on Asylum St downtown...Cajun/BBQ a noisy, fun environment....perfect for teenagers

    1. I second Black Eyed Sally's. Another place to try is City Steam Brewery:

It's in a historic building with lots of character and the atmosphere is very lively. They usually have live music and/or comedy. The food is pretty good, however I think Black Eyed Sally's is better.

      1. re: Michelle

City Steam is always a top choice with my teenage daughter and her friends. It has pretty standard pub fare and good microbrew. Another restaurant they like a lot is Hot Tomatoes. The food is good, but I have always thought it was a little over-rated/overpriced. If you don't mind going a little out of downtown, they love Coyote Flaco for Mexican.

        Good luck in your competition!

      2. Agree 100% with Black-Eyed Sally's. While it wouldn't be on the top of my list for many other purposes, it absolutely tops the list for dining with a large group of 15 year-olds.

        1. If they are a bit more sophisticated they might enjoy Trumbull Kitchen, which has an amazingly varied menu, good service and a very casual feel. I think the Red Plate is worth looking into as well. It is usually crowded, but the food and pizza are pretty good. Can't argue w Black Eyed Sally's, though Hot Tomato's is way past its prime.I see you are a wine lover? If you can ditch the teens, try a quick bite at Bin 228. A most unique wine list (all Italian) w a huge number available by the glass.
