Portland, ME - private room or nice dinner for 20?

My sister is graduating from medical school and we will have about 20 people (incl. kids) there and need dinner reservations in Portland, ME (I'm in NYC as is the rest of the family and we don't know much about Portland). I'm thinking somewhere like Fore Street or Hugo based on recommendations on this board. Does either place have a private room for a private party? If not, can they accommodate such a big crowd? If not, any other suggestions?

  1. Might be hard to find. Your best bet is to call Hugo's which is a small room. I think Fore Street could handle you as they have a Room for that type of party.
    The Regency Hotel is another.
Oolong on commerical has the room, different menu.

You could also try David's on Monument Square -- they do corporate events all the time and have a cute separate dining room and a pretty nice menu.

Went to a party at Francisco's at the Blue House Cafe. We were twelve but I know they seat 20 max. Please see my review below. Very personable and they will serve family style which was fun. Also, they are BYOB which is a plus. Their website is www.franciscosportland.com
My former favorite in Portland is the Blue Spoon. I'm not sure if they do private parties. Good Luck!
