Not your average Killington request

Hi!
I will be heading to Killington for a week.
I am the lucky holder of a large gift certificate for the Kilington resort. My room and lift ticket are paid for already.
Where can I dine on the mountain or the base lodge and eat well?
is one spot on the mountain better then others, or do they mostly carry the same food?

  1. If "gourmet" is your bag then go to Hemingways's.
This is one of those 5-star restaurants taht are rarely found in Vt.
Check out their website(www.hemingwaysrestaurant.com)for their hours and dates open.
This place is expensive!!! but the food is really outstanding.

    1. re: catnip

I didn't think Hemingway's was affiliated with Killington tho, I don't know that you'd be able to use your gift certificate there.

Is there a list of restaraunts that qualify?

    2. Just another thought!
For breakfast we usally stop at the bakery there on the Mt. Road.
This is a A-frame up on the hill on your right as you head up the Mt. Road.
This is about 2/3's the way up the road.
Try this for great muffins and baked goods.
We don't eat up on Mt. Road too much as most of the food there is medicore at best in our opinion.
Actually Hemingways, which I mentioned in my last post to your message,is off the Mt. Road and about 5-10 miles from Killington.

      1. If you mean literally "on the mountain" as in Killington's lodges, you will be hard pressed to find something that will satisfy the chowhound. Sugar waffles are available at kiosks around the mountain and always smell great though. I believe the lodges all serve about the same things, but they just built a new food court at the Snowshead lodge - that's probably your best bet on the mtn. Lunch times at the K1 lodge, Snowshead, or Bear mtn. lodges are hectic - lodge at Killington peak and the one at the base of Skyship are less crowded, but offer less choices.

If you want something decent, you will have to go elsewhere. A half hour drive to Woodstock may be worthwile for the Jackson House or Prince and Pauper. On the access road check out The Outback /Nite Spot for brick oven pizza (expect to pay a cover after happy hour). Choices restaurant is also decent. 15 minutes east on rte 4 is Long Trail Brewery if you are looking for good bar food and beer (food served until 5pm, beer until 6pm).
