Hyannis recs needed desperately

Help!! My husband is in Hyannis for an extended business trip of a couple months.

He's not into eating alone at a restaurant, and he doesn't want to rely on fast food, so he's looking for good restaurants in Hyannis that offer take out.

Preferences are for Indian, Chinese, sushi, American and Italian( red sauce, basics). Price for an entree shouldn't exceed around $15 as he'll be eating out every night. No national chains, please, although suggestions of very good local chains are okay.

Thanks so much!

  1. I'd try British Brew Co on Main Street for comfort food (they have a great beef pot pie), Hyannis; pizza and salad from Not Your Average Joes at the Mall; Panera Bread for soup/sandwiches; Cooke's Seafood on Route 132 for fried clams, etc.; Tiki Port on Route 132 for Chinese; Yings on Barnstable Road for Thai/Korean and great sushi; Though I've never tried them, everyone seems to love DJ's Wings at Willow and 28; Barby Ann's in Independence Park for American Fare; My favorite for Italian is Amaris in Sandwich, about a 15-minute ride. Good luck. Alot of great restaurants are closed until April 1st so I didn't mention them.

Wow...so many recs that I wholeheartedly agree....Yings, Tiki Port (although Dragon Lite on Main St is lighter and less like "Boston Chinese" if you know what I mean). Cooke's is solid and Panera is ok for chain food. I just can't agree with Barby Blands, British Eeewww, and Amari's. My votes go to the Dolphin in Barnstable for seafood, Sam Diego's for tex Mex, Il Maestro in Hyannis for red sauce and the best clam plate $12.99 can buy at Marathon in West Dennis. Oh, and Showtime Pizza is my fave in Dennis Village. By the way, I often eat alone at all of the above places. Sit at the bar, you don't have to drink, bring a news paper or watch the tube, and enjoy. Do it more than once and you'll likely be remembered and greeted by some friendly service person.

    2. Also try Hearth & Kettle in the Cape Codder Hotel as well as B2Bistro (KMart Plaza) for good and very inexpensive burritos. In Barnstable Village try the Dolphin though I am not sure where it stands in price point. I like Fazio for Italian food on Main Street across from TD Banknorth.

      1. Perry's on Main St. has a great breakfast and lunch menu. They will do takeout, but it's also the kind of warm, neighborhood place that you could feel comfy alone. Anything made on Perry's homemade oatmeal bread is terrific. They have fantastic homemade muffins, too; those would be good to pick up for a breakfast on the go or a late night snack. Bangkok Thai on Barnstable Rd. right near the airport rotary is reasonable and tasty. I thought the food there was better than Thai House on Main. St. Hyannis; both have TO. There is also a Brazilian BBQ that does takeout - one of those places you pay by the weight of the food. It's the Brazilian Grill at 680 Main St.; it appeared to be open back in Nov.
There are several places on Rte. 28 that stay open during the winter, like the Keltic Kitchen or Heavenly #2. Keltic, like Perry's, is only open for breakfast & lunch, but it is wonderful (Keltic Bennie is the best)and another place you wouldn't feel odd alone.

Below is a link for Cape Week newspaper, which has a search function for area restaurants (as well as other info your husband might find handy.) The listed restaurants usually have a note on whether they are open year round or seasonally, which is helpful.
